BEI Kimco Magnetics is an established manufacturer of motion control products used for military, aviation and space systems. BEI Kimco was chosen as the sole source supplier for the torque motors that will be used on the battlefield imaging platform. This system will be supplied for use on the mobile gun system that is currently being built into a military vehicle platform, a 19-ton wheeled armored vehicle.
BEI Kimco Magnetics is a pioneer in the development of direct-drive, or "Frameless", torque motors (torquers). These compact, high performance motor part-sets use high slot-to-pole ratios and couple the motor's rotor directly to the load, without the need for gearing. This approach eliminates errors due to mechanical friction/backlash and is ideally suited for applications where rapid starts/stops, high acceleration and low speed precision motion are required. The brushless versions of this technology are being used in a variety of smart weapons platforms, battlefield management systems and medical applications.
