BEI Kimco has introduced a new compact voice coil actuator for applications requiring precision control and superior speeds of response. Applications include die or wafer positioning in semiconductor processing equipment or similar applications where immediate, accurate movements are required to assure maximum throughput and operating efficiency.

The Model RA54-18-000A is a rotary voice coil actuator rated at 113 oz.-in. (0.8Nm) continuous stall torque with a 300 oz.-in. (2.1Nm) 10 second peak torque capability. The device moves through a limited angle of operation and has a rated stroke maximum of 7.5° of arc. It is ideally suited for short stroke, high-speed actuations. Torque sensitivity (K_T) is rated at 105 ±10 oz.-in./Amp. The compact unit is only 2.4" W x 3.6" H x 1.19" D, and weighs only 20 oz. (0.567 Kg).

Offered as a two terminal, non-commutated actuator, the RA54-18 has a linear, bi-directional control characteristic. It is cog free, hysteresis free and has no inherent preferred position. Special configurations of the unit are available to meet unique customer requirements.
